Referee Recertification

NJ's recertifications for 2025 will have both an online component as well as an in-person class. You must complete your prerequisite online work by Thursday prior to your class session in order to be eligible to attend the selected class date and session. If you do not complete your prerequisite online work by the Thursday deadline, you will not be permitted to attend your scheduled in-person class. You will be permitted to transfer to another class provided you pay a $20.00 class change fee at least 5 days in advance of the new class date; upon request, you will be emailed instructions for payment, and only after payment is made will the office register you for another session.

NJ does not accept any out-of-state recertifications (you cannot recertify in another state).

 

Registration is completed thru your learning.ussoccer.com.  You will have access to your prerequisite work once you have successfully registered for your class date. Log into your account as a Referee.  Click on Courses>Available Courses>Recertifying Referee>Go to Course List.  You must register for a NJ recertification.  NJ does not accept out of state recertifications.  NJ's fee is $65 for 2025.  Your license is good from the time you complete your in-person class thru 12/31/2025.

Required Assignments to be completed prior to the deadline for attending your in-person session:
 
* Background Check (if 18 or older)- expires on anniversary date and must renew every 2 years. Fee is $23.00. Must be valid through class date.
* Safesport Training (if 18 or older)- expires on anniversary date and must renew annually. Must be valid through class date.
* Introduction to Safe and Healthy Playing Environment- expires on anniversary date and must renew annually. Must be valid through class date.
* Grassroots Recertification Refresher
* LOTG (Laws of the Game) Update
* Grassroots Referee Recertification Quiz
 
A copy of the IFAB Laws of the Game can be found in your learning center account under the Resources tab.

Badges are handed out upon satisfactory completion of your in-person session. Your name will be listed on NJ's list of registered officials that assignors must use to verify your complete registration with USSF and NJSRC.
