Assessment Request

GRASSROOTS REFEREE:

No assessments/evaluations are required, nor will be required to maintain your grade level.

GRASSROOT REFEREES UPGRADE PROCEDURES FOR REGIONAL REFEREE:

Submit a game count to the State Referee Administrator and the Referee Office for approval, 50 adult games as referee and 25 adult games as an assistant referee, for review and approval. All games must be 2 equal halves of 45 minutes.

Once your game count is approved you will then need a minimum of 3 passing assessments/evaluations (2 adult amateur games, and 1 at the highest level youth (u18/u19) game) as a referee. The requests (contact the Referee Office for a Request Form) for assessments/evaluations are made to the State Director of Assessments and the State Referee Administrator. All 3 of the assessments/evaluations must be done by 3 different Referee Coaches/Regional Assessors or a National Referee Coach. All these assessments/evaluations are in a 3 person system of control with 2 equal halves of 45 minutes. All assessments/evaluations (and other requirements listed below) must be completed in the prior registration “season”, registration season runs July 1 to June 30.

The New Jersey Referee Committee will cover the cost of all 3 of the required assessments/evaluations that you pass. However, if you fail any one of the 3 assessments/evaluations you will be required to pay for the 4th assessment/evaluation. If you fail 2 assessments/evaluations you will need to restart the upgrade process in the following season.

Once all the 3 passing assessments/evaluations have been approved, by the State Referee Administrator, you will then complete US Soccer’s Online Regional Referee Course via the Learning Center. Once completed you will be invited to a New Jersey Referee Camp (obviously if COVID restrictions apply it will be a webinar). Once this is complete, you will need to pass the FIFA Women’s Referee Fitness test (Category 1 Men and Category 2 Women) and attend a field session.

As noted above all requirements listed above must be completed in the prior registration “season” registration season runs July 1 to June 30.
