The current Criteria for Referees who wish to upgrade can be found on pages 21 and 22 of the Referee Administrative Handbook. Please review the criteria to see if you meet all of the requirements before you attempt the process.

Steps for upgrading are completed in this order:

1. Submit to the referee office by e-mail (www.njrefoffice@verizon.net your game log (found in the Referee Form Section) that shows you have completed the minimum requirements as both a Referee and Assistant Referee. The office administrator will notify you if you have met this requirement and may procede.

2. Register for the upgrade clinic when it is posted on line. 

3. Attend the Upgrade clinic.

4. Pass the written examination with the required score for the upgrade. 

5. Complete the Physical Fitness Test.

6. Last step completed only after steps 1 - 5 have been satisfied - pass the required number of field evaluations by currently registered U.S. Soccer Assessor. For this you need to contact the State Director of Assessment when you have the appropriate assignment.
