The State Director of Assessment (SDA) must be notified, in writing (e-mail), minimum of five (5) days prior to the match of a request for an assessment. Unfortunately often you receive your game assignment after that time requirement has passed. In such a situation he will accept the three (3) days notice, again to be done in writing (e-mail). No phone calls will be accepted. The SDA will do everything possible to provide an assessor within the five days, but cannot guarantee one if there is less time.
Assessment Fees – Upgrades
(a) The New Jersey State Referee Committee will pay for the required number of assessments for upgrade, whether as Referee or Assistant Referee
(b) Should a candidate fail any of the assessments as Referee or Assistant Referee, the candidate must successfully complete the necessary assessments per USSF policy of 2 passing assessments for every failure. The candidate is responsible for the fee for these assessments. The fee for these assessments must arrive at the State Referee Office prior to the appointment of any assessor to the match.
(c) Per USSF policy any two failures and the referee must start the upgrade procedure in the next year.
Assessment Fees - Maintenance
The New Jersey State Referee Committee will pay for maintenance assessments. It is unethical for a referee to contact an assessor prior to any match and ask the assessor if s/he would be able to assess the referee.
